Boats, Tow Trucks and Automobiles.

What a long and eventful day. Took the cold ferry out of Alert Bay and headed to Port McNeill. Grey with a smattering of dry snow.

Gassed up, fed, filled with hot drinks and hit the road towards Torfino.

As we followed the coast line down the east coast of Vancouver Island, the snowy weather continued to flood the sky and roads.

We stopped off at a petrol stop in Campbell River for more gas and snacks. By now, the ground was thick with snow (around 20cm) and poor visibility. We left the petrol station, and ran down into a hidden ditch. Blew out the front tyre, smashed the front bumper and dented our egos.

A passing motorist with this huge American Ute, hooked us up, and towed us out of the ditch.

We called the tow truck and swapped out the spare (which was faulty).

No local tyres in town, so we headed to a small local town (Courtenay). We bedded into a local hotel (Kingfisher Resort) and stayed the night. A spare tyre was sourced for the following day.

Headed down to the restaurant and had a good feed, a bottle of wine and a raging fire.

Car is booked in for 10.00 thursday morning.
