Said good-bye to the log cabin and headed off to Nanaimo. At Nanaimo we left (ferry) by a small hamlet called Departure Bay.

Departure Bay is a bay in central Nanaimo, British Columbia, on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

The surrounding neighbourhood is also referred to as “Departure Bay”—once a settlement of its own, it was amalgamated into the City of Nanaimo in the 1970s.

Nanaimo will be our jumping off point for our ferry trip back to Vancouver. We boarded the Queen of Coquitlam at 13.00, and docked at Horseshoe Bay at 14.45.

Horseshoe Bay is a community of about 1,000 permanent residents, located in West Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Situated on the western tip of West Vancouver at the entrance to Howe Sound, the village marks the western end of Highway 1 on mainland British Columbia (and furthermore the main route of the Trans-Canada Highway on the Canadian mainland).

Caught a taxi back to Granville Island to pick-up two suitcases we left prior to Vancouver Island, then  headed off to the Hyatt Regency.

2020 – 01 18 – Jan 18th – Vancouver Island (Parksville) – Vancouver (Hockey Game)

Arrived spot on for the 4pm check-in, dumped the bags, admired the view from the 29th floor, and sourced some tickets for the nights hockey game.

Grabbed the free canapes and drinks from the lounge on our floor, then headed off to the game.

The last time we were in town to watch the hockey, the Vancouver Canucks, they lost to a sudden death playoff.

The Vancouver Canucks are a professional ice hockey team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

2020 – 01 18 – Jan 18th – Vancouver Island (Parksville) – Vancouver (Hockey Game)

The Canucks play their home games at Rogers Arena, formerly known as General Motors Place, which has an official capacity of 18,910.

The Canucks were playing the San Jose Sharks.

1st third was scoreless. Boring.

The game finished up with the Canucks winning 4:1

Plenty of biffos, many penalties and crowd cams keeping all entertained.
