We have been forced to post day 40 later because we still have no mobile phone access. It seems that if you have Telstra mobile access, all is fine. We have Vodaphone, we usually stands for, Nophone access. Lesson learned.

A quick feed (bacon and egg roll – perfect for road trips) and we were on our way.

Balladonia is famous for being close to the crash site of the American Skylab space craft. Locals went out looking for parts of the space craft. Some sold it on, other kept parts for themselves. This part below ended up in the Balladonia Museum.

Day 40 – Balladonia to Eucla

On the long stretches, parts of the Eyre Highway are used for different purposes. The RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service) uses parts of the highway for landing and taking off. Even though the highway is quiet, there are many communities and stations that inhabit the highway.

Day 40 – Balladonia to Eucla

As many parts of the highway are unfenced, and as the sign says, drivers need to be careful. We did not see any camels or emus (alive or as roadkill), but we did see many roadkill kangaroos splattered far and wide.

Eucla is only 12km away from the South Australian border. This is our first view of the ocean. With any luck, we will be beachfront in Ceduna for Day 41.
